Ross McCrorie looks set to miss Rangers’ clash with Celtic on March 11, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 19-year-old centre-back’s foot injury was originally, according to the Scottish Sun, meant to only keep him out until the end of February, but the newspaper’s latest report suggested that he was set to miss another four weeks of action.

McCrorie will continued to be monitored and treated by the Gers’ medical team as they aim to get him back as soon as possible.

The defender hasn’t played for the Gers since January, after aggravating an injury that he sustained in the game against Ross County while at the Light Blues’ Florida training camp.

McCrorie made 19 appearances ahead of being ruled out and had cemented a regular place in Rangers’ first-team after impressing.

OPINION

The news will come as a blow to Graeme Murty, who would have no doubt liked the option of playing the defender against Celtic, as McCrorie had impressed with his performances earlier in the season. The defender may only be 19-years-old but his displays this season suggested that he could be vital to Rangers’ success and the next Old Firm derby could be crucial to the Gers’ season. While the Light Blues currently sit nine points behind the Hoops, victory at Ibrox on March 11 could leave the door open for a last minute bid for the Scottish Premier League title.
