OPINION

Celtic came through a tough test against Aberdeen on Sunday to restore their nine-point advantage at the top of the Premiership table, and there were plenty of talking points to take from the game.

It was a tight first 45 minutes at Pittodrie, and Aberdeen had a couple of decent chances to take the lead as they looked for their first win against Celtic in 10 matches.

It was the Hoops that eventually took the lead on 37 minutes through Moussa Dembele, who had the simple task of heading home James Forrest’s cross at the back post.

Celtic tried to build on their lead in the second half but came up against a stubborn Aberdeen defence, and it looked like the home side were to get a route back into the game when Mikael Lustig was sent off for a second yellow.

However, as they went in search of a valuable equaliser, the Dons were caught on the break as Celtic doubled their lead through Kieran Tierney, who lashed home at the near post.

While it was an important win for Brendan Rodgers and his side after their European exit in midweek, there were several dodgy displays across the park and improvements to be made for the coming games.

This is Futbol have picked out three things we learned about Celtic from their win v Aberdeen, including one defender who must be on his last legs at the club.
