Anthony Knockaert and Aaron Cresswell had to be separated by their teammates at half-time after the Brighton ace was furious with the West Ham man’s challenge that left him needing treatment during Saturday’s Premier League clash, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim Knockaert wasn’t happy with Cresswell following the tackle and made a beeline for him when the referee blew the whistle for half-time in a match that Brighton won 3-1.

The Daily Mail report that the pair’s teammates intervened during the tunnel bust-up on Saturday in order to stop the confrontation turning physical.

Cresswell earned a yellow card for his first half challenge on the Frenchman, with Chris Hughton condemning the 28-year-old’s efforts to win the ball.

“I’ve seen (it),  I think it was a bad challenge,” admitted the Brighton manager, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

Knockaert ended up being the happier of the two players as after going into the break with the scores level, the Seagulls emerged 3-1 winners to move on to the same points as the Hammers.

OPINION

Hopefully this argument ended up being resolved, as the last thing West Ham need is an investigate into the tunnel bust-up. Both players are fortunate that their teammates acted fast to stop their confrontation from becoming physical, as that certainly would have grabbed the FA’s attention. Aside from this reported argument, Cresswell had a bad day at the office for the Hammers on Saturday. The 28-year-old struggled due to Knockaert’s performance with the Brighton ace having the better of the defender on every occasion. Also the free-kick that Cresswell gave away for the foul on Knockaert actually led to Brighton scoring their first goal of the game through Glen Murray.
