Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Sheffield United over a £10million deal for young striker David Brooks, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that Tottenham are looking to try and turn the 20-year-old starlet into the next Harry Kane, and are convinced he is a future star.

The Sun report that Tottenham scouts have been assessing other prospects alongside Brooks, but are now focusing their efforts on the two-times Wales international.

It is said that Spurs want to develop Brooks into a long-term replacement for Kane, and hope to secure his services with a bid of £10million plus extras.

Brooks has made 22 appearances for the Blades this season, with most of those coming from the bench, and has scored two goals and provided three assists in the process.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

If you looks at Brooks’ statistics from his career so far, they are less than impressive. He has three career goals so far, having played around 30 senior matches.

However, Spurs scouts have obviously seen something in Brooks, and the club seem very keen in bringing the youngster in.

Let’s not forget that Kane, the man Spurs reportedly would like to help Brooks emulate, had a poor start to his own career as he struggled to make an impact in the lower leagues.

So, while it may seem a bit of a strange one, there is obviously method and thought behind it, and Spurs scouts are some of the best in the business.

Likely to happen?

It looks as though Spurs are moving quickly to get their man, as talks have reportedly begun over a big-money deal.

There is little chance that Sheffield United would turn down an offer of £10million for one of their young stars, so this is definitely one that could happen.

However, it is still a long while before the summer transfer window opens, and that means that there is still lots of scope for things to change.
