He should not be sold for less than £50m

The Times’ report revealed that Tottenham were set to demand more than £50million for Alderweireld if they chose to sell him.

This is fantastic news and they need to stick to their guns when it comes to demanding such a high price for the defender.

The 28-year-old may have had injury problems this season, but as The Sun reported Alderweireld is widely regarded as the best centre-back in the league by top-flight managers.

Given his known ability and talent, and after getting £53million, according to The Guardian, for Kyle Walker last summer, Tottenham should have no trouble getting £50million and above for Alderweireld.

Several clubs may try and take advantage of Tottenham’s need to sell the centre-back due to his contract’s clause, but interest will be high in the defender and this will mean Spurs can get their desired price.
