Tottenham legend Graham Roberts praised Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier for their performances during Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Roberts decided to highlight the defensive duo, via his personal Twitter account, despite the pair not having much to do.

The former Spurs defender shared that the duo looked very solid, and that they helped their side earn a good win in a big month for the club.

Dier made a mistake early on in the game against Crystal Palace that Tottenham’s opponents nearly took advantage off, but following the error, the 24-year-old hardly put a foot wrong.

Sanchez was equally as comfortable in the game, and was often the last line of defence, as his teammates consistently pushed forward against Palace in search of a goal.

OPINION

Sanchez and Dier certainly did what was required of them by keeping Crystal Palace from scoring, but they weren’t tested much in all fairness. Spurs dominated the game from start to finish, despite only achieving a narrow win. Due to this, Roy Hodgson’s side were only able to have a few chances at goal. Sanchez was arguably the better of the two players against Palace, but there wasn’t much in it. Hopefully the duo for Spurs’ sake, continue to look solid against tougher opposition, because as Roberts alluded to, there are some big games to come in the near future. Spurs are next in action against Rochdale in the FA Cup on Wednesday and will not want to exit the tournament courtesy of a League One side.
