Richarlison would be perfect Spurs summer signing

Watford midfielder Richarlison has refused to rule out a move away from the club this summer amid interest from several top clubs, and he would be the perfect summer signing for Tottenham.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Richarlison insisted that he was focused on Watford, but also said that he was not sure what would happen this summer amid links to Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

“At the moment my head is completely in Watford. I am not thinking about anything else and I want to help the team get as far as possible in the League. That is my objective, that is my focus and nothing else.

“I want to play in this country for as long as possible. It is a great league and has been a great experience for me. I want to improve and playing in England can help me do that,” he said.

“In the future you never know but I leave all things like that up to my agents.”

His comments should give hope to Spurs as they look to strengthen their squad this summer before their move into their new stadium, with the 20-year-old talent looking like a brilliant addition.

The Brazilian took the Premier League by storm at the beginning of the season, including a run of four goals and four assists in eight games between late September and late November.

His production levels have slowed up in recent weeks but that was always expected after such an explosive start to life in England, and should not deter suitors this summer.

Richarlison perfectly fits the mould of a Tottenham attacker under Mauricio Pochettino, with the Brazilian able to play anywhere along the forward line.

He has good pace, a nice pass, and his shots are deadly, although his finishing could do with some improvement.

Pochettino is known for his development of young players, and there are few better emerging talents in England than Richarlison, who is ready for a step up in competition.

Looking at Spurs’ current attacking options, the Brazilian would offer the perfect replacement if Dele Alli were to leave the club, as has been rumoured for a long time.

Alli has been linked with a move away to one of La Liga’s big two, and if a move such as that did occur in the summer window, there is no one better to replace him than Richarlison.

He would slide in perfectly to the Tottenham front line, and provide brilliant cover for their other attacking players.

Finally, the Brazilian would most likely not come cheap, but in today’s transfer market, who does?
