Jenas praises Spurs talisman Dembele

|

Jermaine Jenas has waxed lyrical about the quality of Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele and hailed his incredible form of late.

The 30-year-old is currently in a purple patch of form and has managed to put in eye-catching displays against some high profile opponents.

He has managed to remain injury free despite his poor history and is thriving during a difficult set of fixtures.

The Belgium international is frequently named the best player at Spurs by his teammates and is living up to the hype.

BBC pundit and ex-Spurs midfielder Jenas has admitted he is blown away by the overall quality of Dembele.

“With Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele, there is a long list of reasons why he is an opponent I would hate to face,” Jenas told BBC Sport.

“In the past few weeks he has come up against players of the calibre of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic of Manchester United, and Sami Khedira and Miralem Pjanic of Juventus, and has destroyed them all.

“Dembele is very good technically. His passing ability is a big part of his game, and he is not the type of player to just play safe balls.”

OPINION

Dembele is receiving huge praise from all over given his recent displays and Spurs fans have known about his quality for a long time. The midfield powerhouse really has steamrolled through some world-class opponents and on his day can be unstoppable. Spurs have all the quality going forward to open any team up and look a quality side with the Belgian behind them in the engine room. He has the perfect midfield blend alongside either Eric Dier or Victor Wanyama and they can allow the attackers to flourish. Dembele is at the peak of his powers at the age of 30 and it will be a very difficult task for Mauricio Pochettino when he has to try find a replacement.
