Tottenham fans on social media seemed to appreciate that there was now a chance that Gonzalo Higuain might not feature in their Champions League clash with Juventus on March 7.

Goal reported that the 30-year-old forward lasted less than 20 minutes in the game against Torino on Sunday, having looked like he had sustained an ankle injury.

Goal’s report didn’t share when Higuain was set to return to action with the extent of his injury unknown, but it’s worth noting that he left the pitch in tears over the injury.

Juventus’ game against Tottenham is only 17 days away and the Italian giants face a difficult task, even if Higuain is available, to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The score is currently level, 2-2, after the first leg in Turin but Juventus know that Tottenham have the advantage going into the next clash, not only because the second leg is at Wembley, but because Spurs have two away goals to their name.

Higuain scored both of Juventus goals in the first leg to put his side 2-0 up within nine minutes, but Spurs made a remarkable couple to see the game end as a draw.

One Spurs fan shared that he thought Higuain was Juventus’ best player in the first leg, while several Tottenham supporters posted celebratory gifs upon reading the news.
