Newcastle fans took to social media on Wednesday to share their anger with Joselu as many blamed him for their side’s failure to beat Burnley.

The Magpies ended up drawing with 1-1 with Sean Dyche’s side, which moved them up to 14th in the table, but fans were not happy that they fail to take all three points.

Jamaal Lascelles put Newcastle United ahead in the 65th minute, but the Magpies could have taken the lead in the first half after they were awarded a penalty.

Joselu stepped up to take the penalty but his effort was saved by Nick Pope, and this proved costly as Burnley equalised with five minutes left to play.

Rafa Benitez was prepared for questions about Joselu’s performance after the game, and commented that as a striker he is expected to score.

“It’s a pity because Joselu is working so hard but as a striker everybody is expecting you to score goals,” Benitez told the BBC.

Benitez was right as supporters did expect him to score and made their feelings known about the 27-year-old in no uncertain terms on Twitter.

One fan suggested that the Magpies sign a traffic cone as it would be a better finisher, while another revealed that Newcastle United would have won the game if it wasn’t for Joselu.
