Nottingham Forest have signed forward Joe Lolley on a permanent deal from Huddersfield, according to reliable journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The former Sky Sports reporter, now featuring for ESPN claimed on his personal Twitter account that Lolley, 25, has agreed terms to a four-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground in a last minute deadline day deal.

There is less than an hour to go before the January transfer window slams shut and Aitor Karanka has been in overdrive as he bolsters his squad for the second half of the season.

Wide-forward Lolley, who can play on both wings or up front, has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Huddersfield this season, scoring two goals in the process.

He has started just twice in the Premier League though following the Terriers’ promotion from the Championship.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

This is a brilliant signing for the Reds. They are snapping up a player who played a part in Huddersfield’s promotion to the Premier League last term so having someone with that experience in the squad is a major boost. Karanka has not messed around on deadline day and the 3-0 defeat to Preston on Tuesday perhaps swayed him into a late spurge that is uncharacteristic of Forest.

Likely to happen?

There is not a long time left to get this deal done but Lolley’s lack of football at Huddersfield this term may mean the end of his time in Yorkshire. He now seems as though his move down the M1 will go through within the coming minutes.
