Arsenal have made contact with Nice over midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Gunners have enquired about signing the 26-year-old, but are yet to make a formal offer for him.

The Sun report Seri’s contract has a a release clause of £35million and that the central midfielder is keen to move to the Premier League in the summer.

It is believed that Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all interested in signing Seri as he has been in impressive form this season.

The 26-year-old has made 32 appearances during this campaign, scoring one goal, while creating six.

However, Manchester City are expected to drop out of the race for his signature as they’re likely to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred instead.

Good move for Arsenal?

Yes.

Seri has showcased his sublime passing ability this season by registering six assists, and would be a welcomed addition to the Gunners’ current squad.

Also with the midfielder having a £35million release clause in his current deal, Arsenal should be able to sign him at the start of the summer window as a deal, in theory, should be easy to complete.

Likely to happen?

Yes, if Arsenal see off the competition for Seri’s signature.

The Gunners, according to The Sun’s report, are the only side interested that have made contact about a summer move and this puts them in the driving seat for his signature.

The 26-year-old definitely looks like he will join the Premier League ahead of next season, given his desire to play in England’s top-flight, it’s just a question of which he team he ends up at.
