Mauricio Pochetino has confirmed that Tottenham never considered a move for Moahemd Salah before he completed a move to Liverpool in the summer.

Spurs’ manager was quizzed in his pre-match press conference about the 25-year-old attacker as his side prepared to face him and Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

“No, no, no. We never spoke about Salah,” Pochettino explained, as quoted by Football London.

The north London club come up against the Reds at the weekend in the Premier League as the race for the top four heats up.

Salah is set to be a key player against Spurs and he has been in blistering form since he joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer.

The right-winger has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 26 goals and supplying nine assists in return.

The Egypt international is second in the race for the Premier League’s golden boot, with Spurs centre-forward Harry Kane currently leading the way.

Salah has been one of the outstanding players in the division this term and has quickly become a firm favourite at Anfield. A Spurs XI which included the electric winger would be frightening and Pochettino has detailed that he was never on their transfer radar in the summer. However, Spurs have managed to bring in a new wide man during the January window as Lucas Moura arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day. The 25-year-old will add an injection of pace into Pocehttino’s attacking quartet and he has the potential to rip up the Premier League if he settles quickly in England.
