Liverpool are plotting a move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema but don’t want to pay more than £35.3million for the forward, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish football outlet claim that Jurgen Klopp believes Benzema can get back to his best in the Premier League and is keen to have him play alongside Mohamed Salah.

Don Balon report that Liverpool believe the 30-year-old Real Madrid forward would compliment Salah in their team, and that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez would be willing to sell Benzema as he wants him gone before the start of next season.

Arsenal are also interested in the forward, according to Don Balon, and may have the edge over the Reds’ in the race to sign him as Benzema lists London as one of his favourites cities that he would like to live in.

The centre-forward, who can also play on either wing, has scored seven goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Good move for Liverpool?

Sort of.

The aging forward has been a star in the past, scoring 188 goals in 392 appearances for Real Madrid, but he hasn’t exactly been at his best for a while.

While Klopp isn’t willing to pay more than £35.3million for him, that’s still a large sum of money to gamble on someone whose best days look behind them.

However maybe a move to the Premier League would turn Benzema’s career back in the right direction, as a change of scenery can sometimes help a player rediscover their old form.

Likely to happen?

The Don Balon’s report shares that Florentino Perez is determined to get rid of Benzema before the start of next season, but that doesn’t mean he’ll end up at Anfield.

With Arsenal being interested and the forward preferring to move to London, if Benzema was to come to the Premier League, he’ll more than likely be playing his football at the Emirates.
