Arsenal fans on social media were furious after reading a report that suggested Brendan Rodgers could replace Arsene Wenger as manager.
The Daily Mail reported that the Gunners were set to review Wenger’s position in the summer and had already started drafting up a list of managers who could potentially replace him.
The newspaper claimed that Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim, Germany manager Joachim Low, Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta and current Celtic manager Rodgers were the early contenders for the role.
It is believed that Wenger’s future at the club will depend on whether he secures the Gunners Champions League football for next season.
Wenger’s side are currently 10 points off Tottenham, who currently occupied the last qualifying spot for the tournament, in the league.
However, the Gunners could gain entry into the Champions League if they win the Europa League this season.
Arsenal are set to play AC Milan in the next round, with the first leg of the fixture set to be played on March 8 at the San Siro.
Despite there being several fans in favour of Wenger leaving the club, a large majority of supporters were unhappy that Rodgers was being linked with the role.
One Arsenal fan tweeted that they wished to slip on the frozen pavement after hearing the news, while another claimed that Rodgers would be a downgrade on Wenger.

The prospect of having Joachim Low as #arsenal manager is mouth watering considering what he is doing with the German national team, but a Brendan Rodgers is a no no for me certainly a downgrade #afc

I would take either Allegri or Ancelotti if AW does leave at the end of the season. From the so call 'candidate list', I think Arteta might be a little bit too early, Rodgers tactics in English football were already exhausted, Low's lack of club management & Jardim's bold?#AFC pic.twitter.com/BbGdQcOvzl
