Ayoze Perez completed 90 minutes in the dramatic draw against Bournemouth on Saturday – and Newcastle United fans on twitter ripped him to shreds.
The 24-year-old attacker came in for heavy criticism on social media from supporters after he failed to make a serious impact on the game.
Rafael Benitez’s side drew 2-2 away at Bournemouth and are just two points above the relegation places following the result.
The Magpies were cruising to an away win after lone striker Dwight Gayle struck twice in the first-half.
Perez and teammate midfielder Jonjo Shelvey were both guilty of missing goalscoring chances to make it three in the second period, something that came back to bite the visitors.
Bournemouth produced a late comeback as Adam Smith and ex-Newcastle player Dan Gosling netted to mean the teams shared the points.
Newcastle fans decided to vent their frustration at playmaker Perez as his strugglers in front of goal continued.
The Spaniard plays in the number 10 role behind the striker and has just four goals across all competitions this season.
Perez has had his fair share of critics throughout the campaign, but has remained a regular feature in the starting XI and his high work-rate makes him a popular figure for Benitez.

Ayoze Perez is a complete waste of time. Don't think I saw him actually sprint today. Missed a great chance too. Signs of the old diame coming back today too. #NUFC
