However, Luka Milivojevic equalised from the penalty spot for Palace after Ciaran Clark was penalised for a foul on Christian Benteke.
The North-East club host Manchester United next and are without a win in the league since 1 January.
Newcastle fans on social media raved about left-sided flyer Kenedy for his display and he has quickly become a firm favourite at St James’ Park.
The Brazilian trickster has shown that he has great pace and trickery in the final third that can trouble full-backs.
He is being used in a more advanced position under Benitez, but is yet to complete 90 minutes and he could be being eased into it after a lack of first-team football at Chelsea earlier in the campaign.
