Aston Villa’s recent winning streak came to an abrupt end as Fulham cruised to a 2-0 victory against the Villans on Saturday at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers scored twice in the second half to earn all three points with Ryan Sessegnon and Floyd Ayite grabbing their goals.

Ahead of this game Aston Villa had won seven league games in a row to climb to second in the table.

However the defeat allowed Cardiff City to climb above the Villans as they achieved a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough.

Steve Bruce’s side now sit third, two points behind the Welsh side ahead of playing Preston North End on Tuesday.

Preston go into Tuesday’s meeting with the Villans after achieving an impressive 1-1 draw against Wolves on Saturday.

Aston Villa were successful the last time the two sides met, as they earned 2-0 victory at Deepdale in November.

This Is Futbol has picked out three things learned from Villa’s defeat to Fulham, including which player the club cannot longer cope without.
