West Ham currently have a shortage of central midfield options in their squad and need to try bolster it during the January transfer window.

The Hammers deployed senior options Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate at the weekend win over Huddersfield, but youngster Josh Cullen was the only reserve option on the bench.

Manager David Moyes has managed to help steer the club away from the relegation places and should now be trusted to make some new signing.

The Sun have reported that West Brom have made a £12million bid for Fulham captain Tom Cairney and would be willing to up their offer to £15million.

However, West Ham should hijack the bid with their own interest and bring the Scotland international to the London Stadium.

Cairney has proven himself to be a top player in the Championship for an exciting Fulham side and the left-footed genius is good enough to step up to the top flight.

The central midfielder caught the eye last season at Craven Cottage with 13 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

He is very efficient on the ball and would definitely give West Ham a better balance in the centre of the park.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Bournemouth pass master Harry Arter already in January, but the Times reports that they are unlikely to make any breakthrough in that deal.

However, Moyes should move for his compatriot Cairney during the window who is certainly worth the gamble and would be a help improve the midfield options for the Hammers.
