Tottenham are reportedly one of the teams that have been long-term admirers of Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton and they should attempt to secure his signature in January.

The Daily Mail report that Spurs, Everton, Crystal Palace and Leicester have regularly scouted the 18-year-old following his impressive rise in the Championship.

He is a powerful centre-forward that showed his true potential in Forest’s shock 4-2 win over Arsenal at the weekend and is being tipped for greatness.

The report details that the England Under-19 international is valued at £15million and it would take a sum in that region to prise him away from the City Ground.

Spurs must jump to the front of the queue for the in-demand Championship player and bring him to north London in the current window.

Mauricio Pochettino is in desperate need of a new striker for the second half of the season as Fernando Llorente has failed to really work as a back-up option to Harry Kane.

They need a young rising star to learn under the guidance of Kane and there is no better fit than Forest’s attacker.

Brereton is expected to make the jump up to the Premier League in the future and has already been involved for the national team at youth level.

He demonstrated his excellent hold-up play against Arsenal and also has the pace to run in behind defenders.

The striker has six goals in 38 senior appearances for Forest and his clinical touch in front of goal will come with age.

Spurs is the perfect platform for Brereton to continue his development and Pochettino is certainly the best man-manager to help him improve.

The Argentinian boss can help fast track him to greatness and has a brilliant track record of nurturing young English talents into superstars, with the likes of Kane, Dele Alli and Kyle Walker shinning examples.

It seems like a dream move for both parties and a £15million windfall for Forest in return seems a fair sum.
