Josh Cullen completed 90 minutes in the shock 2-0 defeat against League One leaders Wigan on Saturday – and West Ham fans on Twitter were furious with the midfielder’s performance.
The Hammers suffered an upset in the fourth round of the FA Cup away to Wigan as David Moyes’ side were well beaten.
In-form striker Will Grigg proved to be the hero for the hosts as he scored a goal in each half to book his side’s place in the next round of the cup.
Meanwhile, the Premier League outfit finished with 10 men after left-sided flyer Arthur Masuaku was sent off in the 49th minute for an off the ball incident.
Moyes decided to give some youngster the chance to impress and fringe player Cullen got an opportunity in the middle of the park.
The 21-year-old central midfielder was unable to get to grips with the game and an injury to midfield partner Pedro Obiang in the first-half will not have helped.
He has spent the first half of the season on loan in the Championship with Bolton and has since returned to the London Stadium where he got his big first-team chance at the weekend.
West Ham fans on social media were not impressed with Cullen’s display in the cup defeat and some have suggested he may never be good enough to become a future regular.

Just don’t think Cullen is going to make it. Should have bloomed by now. Tries hard but not premier league quality! @ExWHUemployee #whufc #WIGWHU

The youngsters aren't good enough…its obvious to see….cullen no quality on the ball and Burke getting run ragged.
