Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a January swoop for Norwich midfielder James Maddison – and the club’s supporters on Twitter have given the green light to press ahead with a deal.

The Evening Standard report that Spurs could step up their interest in the 21-year-old playmaker, who has sparkled so far this season in the Championship.

It is understood that they could look to win the race for his signature in the current window ahead of rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester.

The report details that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would consider signing him now and loaning him back to Norwich for the remainder of the season, which is what they did with Dele Alli and MK Dons when he first signed.

The north London club will face a tough battle to convince Norwich to sell their prized possession and the Canaries want at least £20million.

He has been in stunning form so far this campaign at Carrow Road, scoring eight goals and supplying eight assists across all competitions.

Maddison was in action on Wednesday night in a dramatic FA Cup third round replay against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League outfit advanced to the next round of the competition, but needed penalties to do so and they were pushed all the way by the lower league opposition.

Spurs fans on social media cast their eye over attacking midfielder Maddison in the match and were impressed with his performance.

They believe he would be a brilliant signing for the club and keep with the recent tradition of signing young English talents.
