Leeds United fans on Twitter believe the door has opened for their club to re-sign Aaron Lennon after Theo Walcott sealed a move to Everton.

Walcott secured a transfer from Arsenal to Goodison Park on Wednesday night for what the BBC Sport website report is a fee of more than £20million after signing a three-and-a-half year contract.

The right-sided forward’s arrival is set to push Lennon down the pecking order given that they both play in the same position.

The former England international, 30, is out of contract at Everton in the summer and speculation has grown that he could leave for a small fee over the next fortnight even though he has appeared in the club’s last 14 league fixtures.

Leeds fans would love their academy product, who quit to join Tottenham in 2005, back at Elland Road in what would be a sensational move given his pedigree and ability to bring a cutting edge to the attack, and believe it is now possible following Walcott’s transfer.
