Rangers fans took to Twitter to lay into rarely-seen Portugese player Dalcio for his performance in their team’s 1-0 Florida Cup win over Atletico Mineiro on Thursday night.
Manager Graeme Murty made the bold decision to play the Portuguese winger at left-back in the first half of the friendly victory over the Brazilian side as he fielded different teams in each half of the clash.
It was a rare outing for the on-loan Benfica youngster in an unfamiliar position and he had a night to forget as Mineiro quickly realised the Gers’ weakness in that area and began bombarding Dalcio with long balls only for the Rangers player to continually get caught underneath them.
The 21-year-old hasn’t appeared for the senior side since a late substitute performance in their 4-1 win over Hamilton in September, making just three appearances in total since joining from the Portugese giants last summer, and will have done his chances of a recall little good.
Rangers are next in action at their winter training camp when they face Corinthians on Saturday night and fans will be hoping Murty opts to give Declan John the full 90 minutes rather than persist with Dalcio.
The immediate feedback from a section of supporters on social media is that Dalcio is not up to the task, with a few urging the club to immediately terminate his loan from Benfica.

Goss looks decent, Atakayi has potential, the penny seems to have dropped with Windass and great effort from Halliday.
A few players should be moved on, MOH won't do and Dalcio is a waste, get him back to Lisbon.
