West Ham are in pole position to sign playmaker Samir Nasri from Turkish top-flight club Antalyaspor, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Hammers have been offered the 30-year-old in the January transfer window as he looks for a fresh start in his career.

Nasri is familiar to Premier League audiences following his time with Arsenal and Manchester City, which includes two titles with the latter.

The 41-time capped France international is an attacking midfielder and has been offered to David Moyes’ side.

He only joined Antalyaspor from Man City in the summer, but spent last season out on loan with Spanish club Sevilla.

Good move for West Ham?

Most West Ham fans would immediately turn their heads at this deal and that is understandable given Nasri’s form has fallen off a cliff in the past few years.

The creative playmaker has struggled with injuries and this season has made just eight appearances in Turkey, scoring two goals and supplying one assist in return.

However, he could be worth the gamble for the Hammers to add another attacking reinforcement and was once lighting up the Premier League.

The technically gifted attacker is not at the peak of his powers anymore, but is desperate for a fresh start.

Likely to happen?

West Ham are certainly in pole position to land Nasri after being offered his signature and a swift return to the Premier League is on the cards.

It is not yet known whether a switch to the London Stadium would interest Moyes, but this is a transfer that could well take place in the remainder of the window.
