Walcott completes medical ahead of Everton switch

|

Everton are set to announce the signing of Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Toffees will complete a deal for the 28-year-old that could rise to £25million.

It is understood that the right-winger has decided on a Goodison Park switch despite interest from Southampton, Bournemouth and West Ham.

The report details that Walcott completed is medical on Tuesday with the Merseyside club and that talks went on late into the night.

Everton have offered Walcott a huge wage packet in excess of £110,000-a-week to secure a deal.

The Arsenal man is set to be the second attacking signing of the window following the capture of centre-forward Cenk Tosun earlier in January.

Good move for Everton?

Walcott is an experienced Premier League player that can certainly help out an Everton frontline that have struggled for goals this season.

The right-winger will also give a much-needed injection of pace to the side and there is a potentially deadly front four of Yannick Bolasie, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Cenk Tosun and Walcott to come together.

He is certainly a good signing for the next two years or so, but doubters will point to his injury record and expect to him to deteriorate in the near future.

Likely to happen?

This deal is expected to be announced on Wednesday barring a major collapse in the deal.

Walcott has completed his medical at Finch Farm and will hope to be thrown straight into the action on Saturday for the home clash against West Brom.

The wide man may still harbour hopes of a World Cup squad in the summer with England and will need a very strong second half of the season with the Merseyside club to achieve that.
