Tottenham have ended their pursuit of Bordeaux attacker Malcom, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Spurs have stepped away from a potential deal for the 20-year-old and that could pave the way for rivals Arsenal to swoop.

It is understood that French outfit Bordeaux want £45million for their left-footed attack in January and Mauricio Pochettino’s side will now priorities alternative targets.

Brazilian news outlet Esporte previously reported that Spurs had placed a £31million bid for Malcom, but that huge offer was rejected immediately.

Good move for Spurs?

Spurs could do with some genuine pace out in wide areas and allowing Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to leave on loan has further that problem.

Bordeaux winger Malcom is a highly-rated talent that has been performing well in France so far this season and appears to have all the tools to become a future Premier League star.

The Brazilian has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists in return.

Spurs fans would have certainly enjoyed welcoming the speed machine to England, but his price tag would have meant he was a gamble and he may not have made an instant impact on the first team.

Likely to happen?

Spurs appeared to have pulled out of the race for Malcom and ended up £14million short of his valuation.

The Ligue 1 sensation could still make a big-money move to the Premier League during January and the ball appears to be in Arsenal’s court.
