Leeds United are in “advanced talks” with Premier League club West Brom for their striker Tyler Roberts, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper claims that the Whites are in talks over a permanent deal for the 19-year-old after the Baggies completed the loan singing of Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool.

It is understood that Thomas Christiansen’ side are on course to secure a last-gasp deal for the Welsh striker as the January window draws to a close and that they are planning for him to undergo a medical after holding talks on Tuesday with West Brom.

The report details that Roberts’ deal with the Premier League side expires in the summer and the Yorkshire giants are closing in on a £2.5million deal for him.

Alan Pardew’s side have decided they can afford to let their highly-rated youngster leave for good in January after securing a deal for England international Sturridge.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds desperately need to bring in a new striker in closing stages of the January window and highly-rated youngster Roberts will fit the bill.

The Whites need an extra attacking option to help them in their fight for promotion and the West Brom starlet could do the trick.

He impressed in the first half of the season out on loan with League One Club Walsall, where he managed five goals and three assists.
Roberts may not be the finished article yet, but is another body to add to the forward options.
