Rangers defender Danny Wilson is receiving “strong interest” from MLS clubs, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 26-year-old is being lined up by teams in the USA, with potential lucrative contracts readied to try secure a deal.

It is understood that current Gers boss Graeme Murty is keen to keep the centre-back, who has been a key player under his tenure.

Wilson’s contract at Ibrox is set to expire at the end of the season and MLS clubs are keen on signing the Scottish defender.

Good move for Rangers?

Wilson has been a very consistent player this season under Murty and he should be kept at the club beyond his current contract.

The ball-playing centre-back has been a mainstay in the starting XI, which has seen him ahead of summer signings Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso in the pecking order.

There is potential for him to form a great partnership alongside January addition Russell Martin in the starting line up, while youngster David Bates is also in contention.

Rangers now have a decent amount of options in the heart of defence and Wilson is considered a very important player.

Likely to happen?

Wilson will surely be handed a contract extension with the Scottish club given his recent performances and development under Murty.

However, the MLS interest will be a concern for fans and with lucrative deals readied that could prove a major stumbling block for a player with just six months left on his Ibrox contract.
