Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has confirmed a lot of teams have spoken about his side’s defender James Justin amid reported interest from Leeds, but insists they are yet to have any official contact.

News outlet Football Insider reports that the Whites are lining up a bid for the League Two right-back following an injury to their senior player Luke Ayling.

It is understood that Leeds are prepared to move for the 18-year-old during the January transfer window with an offer.

Championship rivals Nottingham Forest saw bids rejected in the summer for the English teenager and the League Two leaders handed him a new contract.

Luton boss Jones has made the big admission that there appears to be a lot of interest in defender Justin, but the reported Leeds target is yet to be approached.

“We’ve not had anything official, but there’s a lot of people talking about James Justin,” Jones told newspaper Dunstable Today.

“We had 36 scouts here the other day, which is a phenomenal amount of scouts for any football game, let along our Checkatrade game.”

OPINION

Leeds are believed to be in the race for defender Justin and it appears that the Yorkshire giants could do with full-back reinforcements in January following Ayling’s injury. Luton ace Justin is a highly-rated defender that has already made 55 senior appearances for such a young age and looks destined to play at a higher level. Leeds did welcome left-back Laurens De Bock to Elland Road on Wednesday and that would allow Gaetano Berardi to fill the vacant right-back slot. Meanwhile, they have a very capable youngster in Lewie Coyle out on loan and he would be a much safer bet than splashing out on Justin.
