Leeds United could return with a fresh move for West Brom centre-forward Tyler Roberts, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire-based journalist Joe Rawson has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Whites are still in the hunt to sign a new striker in the January window.

It is understood that Thomas Christiansen’s side could reignite their interest West Brom’s 19-year-old after seeing their first bid rejected.

The Daily Mail have reported that Leeds saw a £4million bid knocked back from the Premier League side, who is attacking interest from Rangers and Marseille.

Roberts is believed to be tempted by a move to Elland Road to aid their promotion push in the Championship.

By Leeds’ standards, £4million is certainly a huge sum, as they have only spent that on one player in the last 16 years, and that was the £4.5million fee agreed for Adam Forshaw.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds could certainly do with an extra striker to help them in the second half of the season as a prolific goalscorer could help them get into the play-off positions.

Roberts is an extremely highly-rated talent that is being tipped to play at a high level in the future as he has good pace and is decent in front of goal.

He scored five goals and supplied four assists in the first half of the season with League One Walsall and it would be a considerable step up to the Championship, but he could thrive off some of Leeds’ creative attackers.

Likely to happen?

West Brom have offered Roberts a deal to try keep him at the club, but his future could be elsewhere amid huge interest.

Leeds have been given a boost in the striker’s pursuit as he is open to an Elland Road switch, but after already seeing a £4million bid turned away it will take a huge sum to secure his signature.
