Leeds United are in pole position to sign midfielder Jordan Stevens from League Two club Forest Green, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims on its transfer blog (3:03am, 14 January) that the Whites are leading the chase for the 17-year-old.

It is understood that Thomas Christiansen’s side are in the driving seat for the defensive midfielder, but do face competition from Premier League duo Everton and Brighton.

The report details that the Yorkshire giants are planning to reinforce their Under-23s squad and are lining up the League Two ace as a result.

Good move for Leeds?

Stevens has broken into the Forest Green first team this season and the 17-year-old would be unlikely to make an impact Elland Road in the near future.

However, Leeds could do with an additional midfield signing during January to help aid their promotion bid.

Stevens is an upcoming talent that has emerged on the Whites radar and could be a good signing if he develops well in the youth set-up.

Likely to happen?

Leeds are believed to be in pole position to sign Stevens in January and he is set to link straight up with the Under-23s.

He is currently enjoying first-team football in League Two, but could soon make the step up the football ladder.
