Leeds United are yet to decided whether they will sanction the loan exit of emerging striker Mallik Wilks, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claims that the 19-year-old has attracted “fresh interest” from lower league clubs eyeing a January loan switch.

It is understood the Whites are yet to make a final decision on where he will play his football in the second half of the season.

The pacy centre-forward spent the first half of the campaign with League Two club Accrington Stanley, where he scored five goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds’ first team is currently in need of an attacking boost and some fans would love to see Winks get a senior promotion.

The English forward is a product of the club’s academy and has returned to the Under-23s side following his successful stint in League Two.

He is no doubt a major talent with a bright future and it could be worth the gamble throwing him into Thomas Christiansen’s squad.

However, resisting that temptation and allowing another loan exit where he can develop with regular football is perhaps still the best option.

Likely to happen?

Leeds are still yet to make a decision on Wilks’ immediate future and the first-team door could surely be open for him given the lack of firepower in attack.

However, the teenage striker linked straight back up with youth team following his loan return and likewise it would be no surprise to see him head out of the Elland Road exit doors on another temporary basis.
