Italian top-flight club Inter Milan are eyeing a summer move for Tottenham ace Erik Lamela, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that the Serie A club are considering transfer targets for next summer.

It is understood that Spurs winger Lamela has emerged on the radar of the Italian giants as they draw up summer targets.

Inter’s director of football Walter Sabatini is familiar with the 25-year-old as he was in charge at Roma when the player moved to the Italian club.

Meanwhile, Italian news outlet La Roma 24 have also reported that Lamela has been offered to his former club Roma in the January window

It is understood that representatives from Spurs have offered the wide man as a January signing and that he could leave on an initial loan before a permanent exit in the summer.

Good move for Spurs?

Lamela may not have hit the ground running this season for Spurs, but he has only just returned from a serious long-term injury and he should not be written off already.

The Argentinian is still considered a massive fan favourite at the north London club and he can play a big role under Mauricio Pocehttino if given more time.

He is a technically gifted player that offers Spurs a different option out wide with his technical ability and direct style.

He has 33 assists in 133 career games for the Premier League side and at 25 is surely worth keeping.

Likely to happen?

Spurs are hardly stacked with loads of options out wide in their squad and it seems unlikely that Lamela will leave anytime soon.

The right-winger has been linked with a January exit that seems unlikely, while a return to Serie A in the summer seems more probable, but for now it seems too soon to tell and Inter are only drawing up initial plans.
