Everton defender Brendan Galloway wants to end his current loan deal with Sunderland to join MK Dons until the end of the season, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports’ correspondent Keith Downie has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 21-year-old wants to end his current loan spell at Championship side Sunderland prematurely.

It is understood that the left-back is lining up a fresh loan exit and has his heart set on re-signing for former club MK Dons for the rest of the campaign.

MK Dons are currently fighting a relegation battle in League One and sit in the drop zone as it stands.

The left-sided flyer has struggled for regular game time at Sunderland this season with just eight senior appearances and has been unable to help in their own battle against relegation.

Good move for Everton?

Galloway is clearly not developing as hoped during his time at the Stadium of Light and allowing him to complete the season with MK Dons makes perfect sense.

The full-back may be dropping down a further league to play his football, but would enjoy more game time and that should help his development.

He was once tipped to become a future first teamer at Goodison Park after he broke through the ranks, but for now that seems a long way off despite Everton’s need for a new left-back.

Likely to happen?

There is no reason why this deal couldn’t take place in the last couple of days of the January window and it would just take a simple loan switch.

Galloway was shipped out on loan for the entire season and Sam Allardyce would prefer the youngster to be playing frequently.
