Everton chase midfielder Otasowie

Everton are in the race to sign teenage midfielder Owen Otasowie from Championship leaders Wolves, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Toffees are the leading Premier League side in the chase to sign the in-demand 16-year-old.

It is understood that European clubs Juventus, Ajax and Schalke have also scouted him recently during his performances for Wolves’ youth team.

The report details that the USA Under-18s international has been offered a three-year professional deal to remain at Molineux.

Good move for Everton?

Otasowie is an upcoming talent at Wolves that is yet to get a senior opportunity and it’s unclear how much he can develop.

However, the wide speared interest in the box-to-box midfielder suggests that he is a future star and that Sam Allardyce should try win the race for his signature.

Everton have shown they have a real desire to promote youth at Goodison Park and there is a large section of the current first team that have come through the academy.

Otasowie may be a couple of years off senior football, but Merseyside club could be a great platform for his improvement.

Wolves are clearly keen to keep hold of rising star Otasowie and a new deal could see him stay with the Championship side that are primed for the Premier League next season.

However, Everton have a reputation for bringing through young talents and are leading the race to sign the central midfielder.
