Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen answered a question about the future of midfielder Mateusz Klich by stating “we will see” in a very cryptic response.

The 27-year-old has made just 10 appearances since his arrival in the summer and has struggled to force his way into the starting XI.

He was expected to become a key figure at Elland Road, but he could be pushed further down the pecking order following the signing of central midfielder Adam Forshaw from Middlesbrough.

Christiansen issued his three-word response in his pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend clash at home to Millwall.

Reliable journalist and Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay shared the managers’ response on his personal Twitter account, but also explained that there is interest in the midfielder.

It is understood that Leeds are willing to sanction the loan exit of Klich and that there is interest from foreign clubs.

OPINION

Klich has surprisingly made a very small impact at the Yorkshire club since his arrival, despite having some level of pedigree with 10 international caps for Poland. The central midfielder has been unable to get to grips to English football that quickly and allowing him to depart on loan would make sense. Leeds now have several options for the centre of the park with the likes of Forshaw, Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips all likely to be ahead of Klich in the pecking order. Leeds’ January signings have certainly been impressive so far and they should be knocking on the door for a striker, but may have to allow fringe players such as Klich to leave the club.
