Rangers need to hurry up and splash the cash for Greg Docherty as he would be the perfect signing to copperbottom their amazing January transfer window.

The Daily Record reported that the Gers are currently locked in talks with Hamilton over signing the creative midfielder, with his parent club demanding £600,000 for his services.

The newspaper previously reported that Rangers had submitted a £300,000 offer for Docherty, only for it to be rejected.

The Gers have already made impressive signings in the form of Russell Martin, Jason Cummings, Sean Goss and Declan John in this window.

However, Docherty’s signature would be equally as welcomed and be the perfect end to their transfer business.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been in sensational form for Hamilton this season, scoring three goals in 25 appearances.

The central-midfielder, who can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the right, has also assisted six goals this campaign.

Docherty is more than capable of being as productive in the Rangers’ midfield during the second-half of the season.

The 21-year-old’s creative threat could see the Gers secure a high league position, as well potentially win the silverware in the form of the Scottish Cup.

It’s not just this season that Docherty will aid.

With the midfielder still being young, he will only get better and better, with the sky being the limit.

Over the new few seasons, the Gers are aiming to improve in order to get back to challenging bitter rivals Celtic for the title on a regular basis.

Docherty has the potential to be capable of lifting trophies at Ibrox, and being a key part in bringing glory back to the club.

For these reasons, it’s very simple what Graeme Murty has to do next.

Hamilton are not going to budge on their £600,000 demand for the midfielder; if anything they’re letting him go cheap, all things considered.

Therefore, Murty needs to beg the board to end the transfer talks between the club, by simply paying the £600,000 required of them.

This £600,000 deal could not only be another great piece of business in January, but prove to be one of the best deals conducted by the club when looking back in years to come.

Rangers should just pay the £600,000 now, and give fans the perfect end to the winter window by announcing Docherty.
