Rangers are in pole position to secure a deadline day swoop for Swansea striker Oli McBurnie, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper claim in their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 14:15) that the Ibrox hierarchy are locked in talks with Swansea as they look to replace Alfredo Morelos, who is the subject of big-money interest from China.
The Sun report that McBurnie is a Rangers fan, and that has meant that the club are now in the driving seat to sign the 21-year-old ahead of Sunderland and Barnsley, who are also showing interest.
It is said that there is still a long way to go in negotiations, with a permanent move potentially on the cards with the clubs as yet undecided on the terms of a potential deal.
The report claims that a loan deal would include an option to buy in the summer.
An £8million bid has been submitted from China for Morelos, with Rangers reportedly tempted to sell on the Colombian if they can get a replacement in.
Good move for Rangers?
100%.
McBurnie is a known die-hard Rangers supporter, and for the club to secure his services while making a massive profit on Morelos would be great business.
The 21-year-old Scotland youth international has been in prolific form for the Swansea Under-23s this season, scoring 10 goals in seven games, but he is yet to score a senior goal for the club this campaign.
However, a move to Ibrox would see him take centre-stage, and with fellow new signing Jason Cummings he could form a brilliant two-pronged Scottish attack for the Gers.
