Rangers are reportedly close to signing Brighton forward Jamie Murphy – and fans of the Glasgow giants have taken to Twitter to give the deal the thumbs up.
The Scottish Daily Mail report that the Light Blues are in advanced negotiations to land the 28-year-old in a £1million-plus deal.
It is said that ex-Motherwell star Murphy has been high on the wanted list of director of football Mark Allen for some time and is now set to return north of the border.
Murphy made 40 appearances last term for Brighton, helping them gain promotion from the Championship.
But he has been a bit-part player in the Premier League and has turned out just fives times for Chris Hughton’s side this season, failing to make the matchday squad for their 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth on Monday.
The Scot, who can play as a striker or on the wings, has a lot of experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership after spending a good chunk of his career with Motherwell before he headed south to play for Sheffield United and Brighton.
His goalscoring record at ‘Well was impressive, with 212 matches yielding 49 goals.
It is this kind of end product that has got Rangers fans excited on Twitter and his imminent signing has blown them away.

Jamie Murphy improves our starting 11 no doubt 1.2 million is a fair deal seeing he’s at a premier league club, Russell Martin isn’t an outstanding signing but he’s a player that gives us a bit of experience and will probably fit the Scottish game, now sign Docherty

The perfect transfer window for me would be Jamie Murphy, Jamie Walker and Greg Docherty with maybe 1/2 more quality surprises

Given the money being thrown about in England getting Jamie Murphy & Graham Dorrans for just over £2 million is fantastic business.
