Jamie Murphy has not flown to Florida to meet up with his new Rangers teammates after negotiations with Brighton stalled, according to the Scottish Sun

The newspaper report that the winger had passed his medical and was all set to put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal with the Light Blues.

The Sun claim that Murphy was set to fly out with the rest of the squad to Florida, where they are playing in a friendly tournament, but a last-minute hold up has seen him remain in Scotland.

It is said that a deal still remains on the table and it is possible that Murphy, who is on standby to jump on the next plane, will join his teammates in America.

The report states that Murphy’s two-part medical went without a hitch, and a fee of £2million had been agreed between the clubs, before issues suddenly emerged after that.

The fee will see Rangers pay £1million up front, with the same again in add-ons.

OPINION

Well this looks like a spanner in the works for Rangers, who looks all set to announce Murphy as their second signing of the January window. However, it is doubtful that this would mean the transfer stalls completely, with both parties on the same page before this hiccup. It is not specified what the issue is, although it would seem to be related to some paperwork, and that should be thrashed out quickly. Murphy should be on the plane to join his teammates soon enough.
