Hamilton Academical star Greg Docherty is to complete his long-protracted move to Rangers today (Wednesday) after the two clubs agreed a fee of £650,000, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claim that Rangers chairman Dave King is yet to fully approve the structure of payments but Accies are expecting the deal to be completed in the coming hours.

The Record report that Docherty, 21, still needs to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical at Auchenhowie today before completing a dream move to the club he supported as a boy.

It is said that talks between the two parties have been exhaustive after Rangers’ initial bid of £300,000 was rejected last week.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes, this is an exciting move for the Light Blues.

Docherty has been lighting up the Premiership with his displays for Accies this season, and the 21-year-old has inevitably caught the eye of Ibrox bosses.

On top of being a brilliant player, Docherty is also a Rangers fan, and that is always an added bonus for the club and it’s fans.

He will join four new January recruits – Jamie Murphy, Sean Goss, Jason Cummings, and Russell Martin – in what has been a fantastic month for the club.

Likely to happen?

This one looks like it is finally coming to fruition after weeks of speculation.

Hamilton looked like they might try and hold out this month, but Rangers have obviously submitted a bid that was deemed acceptable, and the two clubs have finally reached an agreement.

All that looks left to do is a medical and for personal terms to be agreed, and Docherty could be confirmed as the fifth January signing in the next few hours.
