Motherwell are preparing to offer Celtic flop Nadir Ciftci a career lifeline by taking the Turkish striker on loan, according to the Scottish Sun

The newspaper report that Celtic Plymouth Argyle have agreed to terminate his season-long loan at Plymouth six months early, and Premiership rivals Motherwell are ready to snap him up.

The Sun claim that the Steelmen are looking for firepower up front to replaced the departed Lewis Moult, who was sold to Preston North End for £450,000 this month.

Ciftci failed to impress at Argyle under former Ross County boss Derek Adams, making just eight appearances and failing to score.

Good move for Celtic?

Ciftci has been out of the first-team plans at Parkhead since the day of Ronny Deila, and the quicker he goes again the better.

The Turkish forward showed what he can do with 33 goals in 84 appearances for Dundee United, but has failed to recreate that in Glasgow.

His disappointing loan spell at Argyle further illustrates his decline, and Motherwell are taking a risk by snapping him up.

Celtic won’t mind however, as any exit is a good exit for Ciftci.

Likely to happen?

It is doubtful that there will be many suitors for Ciftci’s signature.

If Motherwell do come in for him, and agree terms, then this one should be easily completed.
