Championship side Hull City are interested in a move for Rangers forward Josh Windass, according to the Daily Record

The newspaper report in their live transfer blog (Friday, 08:28) that Hull boss Nigel Adkins was at Ibrox on Wednesday to see Windass in action during the Light Blues’ 2-0 win over Aberdeen.

The Record claim that Rangers boss Graeme Murty is determined to hold on to the 24-year-old, and the Ibrox club have already rejected two bids of around £500,000 from Preston North End and Leeds United.

Windass’ father, Dean, is a legend at Hull, where he made over 200 appearances for his hometown club, with Josh also born in the city.

Good move for Rangers?

Absolutely not.

Windass has become one of the club’s most important players with his brilliant performances this season, and it is imperative that they keep him this month.

The 24-year-old has six goals and six assists in 21 Premiership appearances this season, and that productivity will be key for Rangers in the coming months.

Likely to happen?

For the reasons stated above, no.

Murty will be well aware of Windass’ importance to his squad, and it will take a seriously big offer for Rangers to even consider a sale.

How much Hull are willing to offer is not really known, but it is doubtful a deal will be struck in the coming days.
