West Ham to hold further Dendoncker talks

|

West Ham are to hold further talks over a potential deal for Anderlecht enforcer Leander Dendoncker, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper report that the 22-year-old powerhouse is keen on a move to the London Stadium and his agent has a good relationship with boss David Moyes.

The Mail report that Moyes is desperate to strengthen in midfield and is hopeful that Newcastle pass master Jonjo Shelvey will join this month.

It is said that the Scot also wants a holding player, and Dendoncker is thought to represent a good option with sell-on potential.

Anderlecht reportedly want a premium fee of £27million for the starlet.

Good move for West Ham?

Absolutely.

Dendoncker is very highly rated in Belgium, which is a nation not exactly short of young talent.

The young midfielder is massively versatile, and has been filling in at the back for Anderlecht for most of the season.

That adds massive value to his signing, especially for a player coming in to a club in January.

Likely to happen?

Dendoncker has been angling for a move away from Anderlecht ever since rejecting a new contract in the summer.

Manchester United have also been linked with the young Belgian, but it looks as though West Ham are currently at the front of the queue.

The issue here will be the fee. Moyes will need to sell first if he is to raise the £27million asking price, and that may take some time.

If it does happen, expect it to happen late on in the window.
