West Ham are now concerned that Andy Carroll could be out for three months with a fractured foot, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the West Ham forward is set to see a specialist on Monday about a hairline fracture, with David Moyes hoping that the specialist delivers a more promising verdict on the injury.

Daily Mail report that Moyes is planning to be without the 29-year-old in case it’s bad news, and Chelsea have cooled their interest in Carroll since the injury set-back.

The centre-forward suffered the injury in the 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion, with Carroll grabbing both Hammers’ goals in that game.

Carroll last featured for his side as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham on January 4, but the Daily Mail believe he had a painkilling injection in order to be able to play.

The 29-year-old has featured 14 times for West Ham this season, and has scored two goals.

Moyes is also waiting for the results of Manuel Lanzini’s scan on his hamstring; in order to find out how long he is sidelined for.

OPINION

Well after looking like leaving in January, it seems Carroll is set to be unavailable to the club for an all too common reason. The 29-year-old’s Hammers career is defined by injuries, and another one shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, it’s worrying that the forward potentially played with a hairline fracture against Spurs, as who knows what further damage he could have caused. The 29-year-old may be injury-prone but risking him in that manner, means the Hammers could have caused him avoidable problems. West Ham could have coped without a Carroll cameo against Spurs; so they didn’t need to get him through the game with an injection. Hopefully the specialist provides the forward and club with a more optimistic diagnosis.
