West Ham are keen on making a move for Francis Coquelin in January with Arsenal ready to sell the midfielder, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers are leading the race for Coquelin, ahead of unnamed French clubs.

The Daily Mirror report that the midfielder is keen to get more game time after losing his place in the Gunners’ side, and would be available for around the £10million mark.

David Moyes wants to bolster his midfield options according to the same report, with Coquelin being seen as the ideal solution.

The French midfielder has failed to start any Premier League game for Arsenal this season but has made seven league appearances from the bench.

Coquelin has been successful in his time with the Gunners winning two FA Cups.

Good move for West Ham?

The 26-year-old has heaps of Premier League experience, having made 105 Premier League appearances, and would be ideal as West Ham battle relegation.

The midfielder has been utilised in several positions across the defence and midfield during his four years at Arsenal.

Coquelin’s versatility could see become a key member of the Hammers squad in a short space of time.

Coquelin is also known for his ability to intercept passes and win tackles wherever he finds himself of the pitch, and the Hammers currently have no one like him.

Likely to happen?

With Arsenal willing to sell and £10million being a reasonable price given his Premier League experience, then this deal is more than likely to happen.

While West Ham have been unsuccessful in their pursuits of Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Allen; Coquelin actually looks like he’s available.

It will also help that the midfielder is keen on a move given his lack of playing time this season.
