Swansea City are set to offer £18million for West Ham’s Andre Ayew before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim the offer is a £3million increase on The Swans’ last offer which was rejected earlier in the window by the Hammers.

The Sun report that David Moyes will only let Ayew go once he has ensured that he has enough cover in attack, as he currently has several players ruled out with injury.

Moyes is currently without attackers; Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini, Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio due to injury.

Ayew has been on the fringes of West Ham’s squad all season, completing 90 minutes only four times in the league so far.

The 28-year-old didn’t even make the squad for the Hammers’ last game against Wigan on Saturday, despite Moyes fielding a makeshift team.

Ayew joined West Ham from the Swans in 2016 after the Hammers forked out £20.5million to secure his signature.

West Ham and Swansea City are both currently battling for their Premier League survival, the Swans are currently bottom of the league with 20 points while West Ham sit 11th with 26 points.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes. While it’s lower than the £20.5million that West Ham paid for him, it’s not far off.

When you consider the left winger has only scored 12 goals and grabbed five assists in 50 appearances for the Hammers, they’re lucky to get that much.

In fact Ayew got 12 goals and five assists during his time at Swansea but he did it in 15 less appearances.

The attacker doesn’t look like breaking into the first team anytime soon, even with an injury crisis, so it’s best if the Hammers just sell the player now and act quickly to spend the money in the window.

Likely to happen?

As soon as Moyes gives the greenlight, this deal will go through without a problem.

The West Ham manager is understandably concerned about how badly his side has been hit by injuries, but he will soon realise that Ayew is still not in his plans.

The winger didn’t even feature in the FA Cup defeat to Wigan where Moyes fielded a makeshift team made up of whomever was fit, which says a lot.

With the Hammers out of both cups and just the league to deal with, Ayew will no doubt be allowed to leave, especially for £18million.
