Crystal Palace have opened talks with West Ham about a deal for striker Diafra Sakho this month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported on the Sky Sports News Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that the Eagles were now in talks with Premier League relegation rivals West Ham about a deal for the 28-year-old.

Sakho has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium this month after being left out of David Moyes’ first team plans.

The eight-cap Senegal international has made 14 appearances in the Premier League this season, but none of those have been starts.

Good move for West Ham?

Well, it’s obvious that Sakho is out of the first-team picture at the London Stadium, and the Hammers need funds for other signings.

A move away therefore seems like the best option for all parties.

The Senegal international should command a fee of around £10million, although it’s likely that the Hammers will push for a deal at around £15million.

Also, selling to a relegation rival might be a risk, but it may be one that they are willing to take in order to sign the players that Moyes wants.

Likely to happen?

An exit for Sakho this month is most definitely on the cards.

Depending on how negotiations between the two clubs go, a move to Palace is a possibility.

The biggest stumbling block to any deal will no doubt be their asking price, but in order to secure the funds they need, the Hammers are going to have to be realistic.

As long as that happens, this is a move that could materialise.
