West Ham have agreed a loan deal for Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario but David Moyes will jet out to watch the 24-year-old in action before a final decision is taken, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers have finally reached an agreement with Inter for a loan deal this month, with the club having a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

The Mirror claim that Moyes is however keen to watch the Portugal international in action before signing off on the deal, and will jet out for Inter’s clash with Roma on Sunday.

It is said that Moyes has made a midfield signing his number one priority this month, and European Championships winner Mario is at the top of that list.

Good move for West Ham?

Absolutely.

While Mario has failed to impress since his £38million move to Inter from Sporting in the summer of 2016, he still remains an extremely exciting prospect.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has a brilliant burst of pace, a deadly set-piece and a beautiful passing range that would supplement any Premier League attack.

A move from the slow, tactical football of Serie A to the hustle and bustle of the Premier League may be exactly what Mario needs to get his career going again.

Likely to happen?

It had been claimed that Mario was not keen on a move to the London Stadium, but that now appears to have changed.

Inter seem open to a loan move, and West Ham clearly want the player.

If Moyes is suitably impressed on Sunday, expect this one to be wrapped up within the coming days.
